Training that actually speeds up turnarounds

I’m planning Q1 training for operators and prepress and need courses that translate to fewer reprints and faster changeovers — think shaving 8–10 minutes off makeready on our 6-color Heidelberg. If you’ve taken a program that improved cross-department handoffs or schedule adherence, what was it and how did you measure the gain?

handoffs or schedule adherence, what was it and how did you measure the Agree on the timing part — what moved the needle for us was a 2-hour SMED changeover drill with prepress + press practicing plate staging, Prinect/CIP3 ink presets and externalised washups; we measured makeready from ‘last good A’ to ‘first OK B’ via Press Center logs and cut a CD 102–6 by 8–10 minutes on average. Small caveat: it sticks only if you lock a one-page handoff checklist and recalibrate presets weekly — want the drill script?

My take: I’d lean toward the simplest next step and see if it changes anything this week — if not, you’ve got a clear case to escalate. What would block you from trying that?
